Parents value the rigor and steady review, saying it produces strong, well-drilled writers and grammarians, with zero lesson planning required. The trade-off is repetition that can feel tedious especially for older kids, prompts that assign writing without teaching how, and content that's Christian throughout.
Parents like how independent this is: self-instructional LightUnit workbooks with built-in spiral review mean a student works through most of it on their own once they're used to the format. Full-grade cost adds up across many units, the presentation is plain workbook pages, and content is Christian throughout.
Neither is better for every child. Abeka Language Arts is the stronger fit for grammar; confident; christian worldview. Christian Light Language Arts (Grades 3-8) is the stronger fit for writing; a complete program; i'd rather a video or script teach.
