Tips for placement

Questions parents ask

Why use a placement test?

Programs cover topics in different orders, so a child who finished 3rd grade in one program may be ready for level 2, 3 or 4 of another. A placement test shows where to start.

What if my child places below grade level?

That's common when switching programs and usually not a sign of a problem. Starting where your child is secure builds confidence, and many kids move quickly through review.

Should my child study for a placement test?

No. The goal is an honest picture of what they know. Let them skip problems they don't recognize.
