Print it, then sign and date it as the school administrator. Keep the "Official" title if you're sending it to a college or employer. Some families also have the signature notarized, and a few colleges ask for that. Many colleges also want course descriptions: a short paragraph per course listing the materials used and how it was graded. Check each college's homeschool admissions page, and your state's homeschool law, for anything extra they require.
Programs like Power Homeschool, Easy Peasy and Khan Academy supply the lessons, but they aren't your school, so they don't issue a transcript. You do. Enter each course under the year your student finished it, using the program's course name.
In most U.S. states, yes. As a homeschool parent you are usually the school administrator, so a transcript you sign and date is your school's official record. Colleges regularly accept parent-issued transcripts. A few ask for extra proof, such as test scores, course descriptions or a notarized transcript, so check each college's homeschool admissions page and your state's homeschool law.
A full-year high school course is usually 1 credit, which is roughly 120 to 180 hours of work. A one-semester course is usually 0.5 credit. Many families plan on about 24 credits across four years, but requirements vary by state and by college.
Show both if you give extra weight to harder courses. A common weighting adds 0.5 for Honors and 1.0 for AP and dual enrollment courses. Many colleges recalculate GPA their own way, so the unweighted GPA matters just as much.
Usually, yes. Power Homeschool is the parent-run version of the Acellus courses. It isn't an accredited school and doesn't issue a diploma, so you keep the records and issue the transcript. Its sister school, Acellus Academy, is accredited and issues its own transcripts to enrolled students.
