Parents report strong test scores and writing outcomes from the memorable jingles and sentence-pattern chants, which stick with kids in a way plain drills often don't. It's heavily scripted and interactive, so it doesn't suit independent work, and some families find the jingle-and-recitation style tedious past elementary grades.
Parents like how fast and simple this is: removing prepositional phrases first makes finding the subject and verb concrete rather than abstract, and daily lessons take about 10 minutes with no lesson planning. It's a plain text-based workbook with no stories or color, so it's less engaging for visual learners, and it's grammar only with no writing or composition component.
Neither is better for every child. Shurley English is the stronger fit for some families. Easy Grammar is the stronger fit for others.
