Parents consistently credit Singapore with building real number sense: kids learn why a method works, not only how. The newer Dimensions edition adds videos and activities, which helps, but many say the lessons got longer and need more parent prep than the older Primary Mathematics books.
Parents praise it for building real understanding at a very low price, and many kids can work through it mostly on their own. The most common complaints are that pages look busy and dated, and that it offers little fun or drill for kids who need games to stay engaged.
Neither is better for every child. Singapore Math is the stronger fit for hands-on objects; plenty; confident. Math Mammoth is the stronger fit for reading and working alone; minimal; rusty.
